Photo of Hermanas Whitmer & Yungfleisch in the mission office

Sent by the senior missionary fleet coordinator for the mission when Hermanas Whitmer and Yungfleisch visited the mission office on P-day.

Zika in Houston?

We have not been counseled to wear pants but I talked to Hermana Hall about it and she said that we are now allowed to wear maxi skirts. I'm not sure I want to because it is so hot but I will be better about wearing my mosquito repellent because I already have quite a few bites. (Ooops, I just scratched one). I haven't swollen up very badly yet and I'm generally pretty good about not scratching.

I will be better about taking pictures. I'll ask if we can take a district photo on Wednesday when we have district meeting and send it next week.

I absolutely love the pineapple necklace and the Iron Rod necklace. I think it's funny that I've got you looking for jewelry for me. How was Oregon? Funny thing about the Pineapples and psych, my companion is just as in love with them as I am. I'll take a picture the next time I wear them.

Sorry, I should have explained that a little better. Perdon a me. I was talking to the SSTL (Senior Sister Training Leader) and another one of the STLs (Sister Paiz, Hermana Asplund's companion) this week and they said that it would be fine for me to have my flute here in the mission. I am going to make sure with President today when I have an interview with him (nothing to worry about, Hermana Whitmer wanted to meet with him so I decided that I would too) but I am 99% sure that he will say yes. Then, if you could send me one of my flute books that has hymns in it that would be great (maybe have mom make the choice of which one to send me). There is a piano book that I have titled "Hymns", it has a brownish cover and is spiral bound. If you could find that it would be great. I was just thinking that it might be nice to have for prelude music at baptisms or such.

Le amo mucho,
su hija

In separate email, in response to news that Sister Heufner had come to Gilbert to see Pres. Nattress:
Huefy!!!! I miss her so much! I hope you all gave her hugs for me.

In a separate email, responding to questions about the weather in Houston:
I'm handling it ok...it's getting hot but not as hot as where Elder Mitchell's at so I'm grateful. Yes the repellent works but I need to use it more. I don't like the feeling of it on my skin but too bad. I got my second blister yesterday. I've used the rain shoes a few times. I've mostly used my leather shoes in the rain because it comes up really fast and then blows through and I never know when I should wear them.

"I love the church people" We Got Service! We Want One! Exchanges

Hola familia y mis amigos!

This week was tough but so good in the end. On Monday, we were supposed to have a Family Home Evening or Noche de Hogar  with the Gonzalez family but it had to be canceled because their daughter was sick and their niece was having her baby and they needed to watch her other little girl while she was at the hospital. Thankfully we have rescheduled this fun night for this Wednesday. It might be a little crowded because it will be the five of them, Hermana Whitmer and I, Hermano Salomon, the Rodriguez family, and maybe even Bishop. I hope the Rodriguez home will be big enough to hold us all. I'm really excited though because without even asking the Gonzalez Family if we could come visit them another time this week, the dad, Fortunado asked if we could come by Friday night. I love their family. They are so sweet.

Also on Monday, Hermana Whitmer lost her name tag. We were super worried because losing our name tags is kind of like losing a piece of our heart. Name tags have a lot of sentimental value for us. We searched around the area where we first realized that it was missing but we didn't have time to retrace our steps of the day and so we prayed that we would be able to find it the next day. On Tuesday, we stopped by to see one of the people we had seen the night before and right before we got out of the car we prayed that we would be able to find Hermana Whitmer's name tag. I opened my door and looked out into the street. I saw something shiny and black in the middle of the street. IT WAS HER TAG! I know that Heavenly Father answers prayers. Sometimes not in the way we expect, at the time we want or even the way we want but he will answer our prayers. Heavenly Father loves us and wants what is best for us because we are His children and he has a plan for us.

On Wednesday, we had exchanges. Last Thursday and Friday, Hermana Asplund and I were reunited during exchanges while Hermana Whitmer was with the companion of Hermana Asplund. This week I got to be with her companion, Hermana Paiz. Hermana Paiz is absolutely amazing. It's crazy, she and I both like a lot of the same things. She is from Guatemala but has been living here in the US for most of her life. She an amazing testimony and love for the gospel. I was able to learn so much from her.

On Friday, we helped a cute, older couple from our Ward move into their new home. They are both converts and have such strong testimonies of the Gospel and how it can change lives. We were able to take her with us on a few teaching appointments and she took over in a few of our lessons and practically taught for us. Every chance she got, she invited those we taught to make changes in their lives and to come closer to Christ and by doing so come closer to our Heavenly Father.

On Sunday, we were able to listen to Stake Conference which was so great because one of the Less Active members in our ward that we've been working with a lot came to listen to it. One of the Young Women from our Ward spoke at Stake Conference. She did a great job and shared her testimony of Family History. Later that afternoon, we were able to take another one of the Young Women out with us to see a few people. She's excited to one day serve a mission like her older sister and she wants to come serve a mini mission with us this summer. We challenged her to read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover this summer and I am excited to see how that goes for her.

I hope that all of you are doing well. I am so grateful to all of you and I challenge you this week to read the scriptures and pray each day because I know that as you do that, as you put Heavenly Father first in your lives, that he will pour out his blessings upon you. He loves you very much and wants you to succeed.

All my love,
Hermana Yungfleisch

Heartache

I had some struggles this week. My first time taking over the area I found a potential investigator that I could easily picture in Baptismal white and I was proud of myself for being able to find someone to teach. We met with him once, like a week ago. It wasn't the best lesson because he likes to talk a lot and he kept getting side tracked but I thought he was progressing and wanted to know more. Sadly, on Friday we texted to confirm our appointment with him and he said yes but that he needed to return our "Mormon Bible" to us. It hurt my heart a little and I tried to prepare myself for the appointment but it didn't go as well as I thought that it would. We took a sweet older woman from our ward with us, Hermana Cisneros. While she was bearing her testimony to him he was kind of laughing at her and at us...it was really uncomfortable.

See Yourself In The Temple! They Came To Church!!!

Hola mi familia y mis amigos!

This week has been insane but absolutely amazing! Our trip to the temple was great. The Houston Temple is gorgeous and I felt such amazing peace there. As I walked through the doors into that sacred temple, all the stress that I had been feeling drained away and I knew that I was where I needed to be. Hermana Santillan is great. She spent so much time with us to make it possible for us to attend the temple on Tuesday. I am so grateful for the members of our Ward who have such strong testimonies of the gospel and are always so willing to help us.

On Monday we taught a sweet couple. Their names are Fortunado and Norma. He loves to talk a lot and they have been so prepared to hear this message. La familia Rodriguez accompanied us to this lesson and bore their testimonies about how the gospel has blessed their lives. Hermana Rodriguez practically said that they needed to listen to us so that they could come closer to their Heavenly Father. I love Hermana Rodriguez, she is so sweet. We returned for a second lesson on Wednesday. We taught them about the Restoration of the Gospel and invited them to go with the Rodriguez family to church on Sunday. It was such a powerful lesson! I felt the Spirit so strongly during the lesson.
THEY CAME TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY! They stayed for all three hours and even participated in their classes. They said that they really enjoyed it and want to come again. Tonight we will be having a Family Home Evening with them and the Rodriguez family. I hope that it all goes well.

Have an amazing week!

Love,
Hermana Yungfleisch

Great week of training and finding!!!

Hola! Somos las hermanas misioneras en esta área! Misioneras de la Iglesia de Jesucristo de Los Santos de Los Ultimos Dias! ¿Ha hablado con los misioneros antes? ( Hi! We are the Sister Missionaries in this area. Missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Have you talked with missionaries before?) These are probably the most used words and phrases of my mission so far.

Hermana Whitmer and I changed our P-day to Tuesday this week so that we could go to the Temple today. I will make sure to send lots of pictures of us at the temple next week. Fun fact: In the October General Conference of 1997, the year I was born, the Houston Texas Temple was announced.

On Thursday, we had a special training on the Atonement of Jesus Christ. It was so amazing. It was a great reminder of the message that we share and why we should work so diligently to share it because it is centered on Jesus Christ and his ministry on the earth. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer and that he suffered and died for us so that we can return to live with our Heavenly Father once more. I know that after three days, he did rise from the dead and he lives today. I invite you to go and watch the amazing video produced by the Church titled, He Lives. You can find it on Youtube. It is powerful!

We found three new people to teach this week! Fortunado, Norma, and Joel. We found Fortunado and Norma by contacting people that were referred to us. They are a very sweet couple who want to find the truth. They have attended many different churches but haven't felt that any of them contain the full truth found in the Bible. We had a lesson with them last night and we brought with us the Rodriguez family. They are one of my favorite families in our ward. They love to go and teach with us and they have such strong testimonies of the gospel that they want to share with everyone. Hermana Rodriguez is like a second mom right now for me and she and her husband actually remind me a lot of my parents. I will make sure to send a picture of them next week.

On Friday, when Hermana Whitmer was at MLC a special missionary meeting for Sister Trainer Leaders, District Leaders, Zone Leaders, etc., I had the opportunity to take over our area! AHHHH! Let's just say that I was a little scared, especially because my companion for the day was Sister Gilespie, and she isn't a Spanish speaking missionary. In other words, the Spanish was all up to me and my limited language skills. I learned or rather, was reminded that when we act in faith, trusting that the things we are doing are the will of God and we follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost, everything will work out. As it says in Moroni 7:33, "If ye will have faith in me ye shall have power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in me." This is so true. When one of our appointments fell through, we decided to go street contacting with the plan to also try contacting the potential investigators that lived on that street. My Spanish was broken and there weren't a lot of people outside but amazingly these things didn't matter. We met a man named Joel who was very surprised when I told him that I had only been learning Spanish for 9 weeks. Surprisingly in addition to speaking Spanish natively he speaks very good English. So Hermana Gilespie could contribute to the conversation and help me to teach him. We taught him a little about Christ's ministry on the earth and we gave him a Restoration pamphlet and set up a return appointment. I know that we receive blessings and see miracles when we act in faith.

I got to Skype with my family this Sunday which was absolutely amazing! It was a great reminder of why I am here on my mission, sharing the gospel and helping others to come unto Christ. Because I have seen how much this gospel has blessed my life and my family and I want to bring that same happiness to others.

Have a good week!

Love,
Hermana Yungfleisch

Did we just get asked out on dates?!

This week has been so great!

After District meeting this week Hermana Whitmer and I went on exchanges because she is a Sister Training Leader. I went to the Brazos area in Rosenberg and served with Hermana Ramos, a sister missionary from Mexico who serves in the Temple Square Mission in Salt Lake City (every few months they go and serve in other missions to get different mission experience). We had an amazing time. We taught several lessons. And I really got to practice my Spanish.

On Thursday as we were waiting for one of our investigators to answer their door we were approached by two young men that were probably about 20 or so years old. They asked what we were reading and then said that they wanted to ask us out because we were so beautiful. That will be the first time I have ever been asked out while on my mission but according to my trainer, it won't be the last.

This Sunday, we did a Ward Fast for missionary work in our area. I am excited to see all of the blessings and miracles that come from it. The work is progressing so quickly here. This past week we found 3 new investigators - Adrian, Silvino, and George. I am so excited to continue teaching them.

I'm so sorry I can't say more this week. My time is short today.

My invitation for you all this week is to be an example of Jesus Christ at all times.

I love you all and I hope you are all doing well. Have a great week and know that I am praying for all of you.

Lots of love,
Hermana Yungfleisch

Transfer 2, week 1: Assigned to Missouri City, TX

Hola Famila y Amigos!

My first p-day in the field! It's finally here. I'm finally here!

I love Texas so much! I'm beginning to understand the Texan pride thing. It is so real.

My Mission President and his wife are amazing! They love us all so much and will do all they can to help the work in this area to progress. I am so excited to get to know both of them better.

I have been assigned to labor with Hermana Whitmer. She is the greatest trainer in the world! I have learned so much from her already and I can't wait to learn more. We are serving right outside of Houston in a place called Missouri City. It is so beautiful here. The people here are so kind and even if they don't want to here your message they will usually offer you water or something cool to drink.

This week has been so wet. It's rained for the past two days and when it rains it usually pours. Attached is a picture of a text we received from our Bishop this morning warning us to stay inside until about 1 o'clock.

I promise to email more next week when I have more time.

All my love,

Hermana Yungfleisch

Rain in Missouri City that leads to flooding

Flood warnings from a caring Bishop

Flooding in Houston

President Hall sent this note out this morning:

Dear Parents,

The Houston area was hit with heavy rains last night and this morning and the entire metro area has been asked to stay off the roads until the storm passes and the flooding subsides. All missionaries are safe and accounted for, but they will be unable to leave their apartments until we give them clearance to do so.  Unless they are in the southern area of the mission, or have an internet connection in their apartment complex, you will not likely receive an email from them until later today or possibly tomorrow. I will communicate updates to you on our mission website, http://www.texashoustonsouthmission.com as more information becomes available to us.  Please check it later this morning and then early this afternoon if you'd like to know our status.  We are unable to get to the mission office to answer the phones so email is our best communication tool for now.  Many thanks and keep the Houston area in your prayers.  We will provide a lot of much needed help and service in the coming days.

Susan has never seen a flood before.  I hope she's loving it, and I hope she sends pictures!

Transfer 1, week 6: Preparing to leave the CCM for the mission field!

Susan flies to Houston Texas this morning.  Her flight was delayed an hour, so she should arrive in Houston around 2:30pm local time.

She got a few minutes to email yesterday, and she wrote, "I love you all so much!  I can't wait to join the missionary force for real tomorrow!"

She sure looks happy!

Transfer 1, week 5: General Conference, Mexico City Temple again, and Food Poisoning!

Well, the time has come to finally leave the CCM. I have exactly five days left before I leave to report to the Texas Houston South Mission. I am so very excited. I know that this gospel is true and I want to share that knowledge with others because I know how much happiness it can bring to their lives.

As a great send off gift many of us have been very sick here. My entire district hasn't been together for more than 5 hours this week which is very sad since we will be leaving one another in just a few short days. A scripture that describes us very well right now is, 1 Corinthians 11:30, "Many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep." Thankfully I was never as sick as the Elders in my District but I was told by the Doctor here at the CCM to go and rest on Monday so that I could kick this stomach virus more quickly. My rest became two, 3 hour naps. I was also given a Priesthood blessing by two of the Elders who were feeling alright that day. I can testify of the power of Priesthood blessings. There is no way that I could have gotten over so quickly what ever it is that has been going around. Most people have been sick for at least 2 or 3 days. I was able to fully recover within one day. I am so grateful that these young men are worthy to hold such marvelous power. The priesthood is the power and the authority that men can hold, if they are worthy, to act in the name of God for the salvation of His children. I am grateful that we live during a time when this priesthood power and authority has been restored to the Earth and our lives can be blessed by it.

Today, I have the opportunity to attend the Mexico City Temple. This will be our second and last time. It is such a great way to begin and end my time here at the CCM. I'm a little sad that I won't be able to send pictures of my time there later today but I will be sure to include them in my next email.

I absolutely loved General Conference! It was especially great to watch Conference here at the CCM! For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to watch the all of the different sessions I would really encourage you to do so, as soon as you can. Or if you did, go back and watch and read the talks over again. Begin with a prayer and watch or read the talks with questions in mind. I promise that if you do these things and write down the thoughts and the impressions that you have while watching, that your questions will be answered and you will receive a witness of the Spirit that the things being taught are of God.

I testify that we are all Hijos de Dios! Dios nos ama!

Love,

Hermana Yungfleisch

Transfer 1, week 4: Easter

Hola familia y amigos!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Easter. It is a special time to remember our Savior and all that he has done for us. It is fun to do Easter Egg hunts and decorate Easter eggs but it is an even better reward to ponder on and be thankful for the sacrifice of our Savior. I would invite you to watch the Easter videos that the Church produced sometime today and ponder on the love our Savior has for each of us. Here in Mexico, the Easter holiday last the entire week, 24/7. They light off fireworks all day and all night, they ring gongs and bells at 11pm and people speak over loud speakers at random times. I never learned what they were saying, sadly. During this week everyone becomes very Catholic and they don't want to listen to the Missionaries. I wonder what it will be like back in the States.

I'm really excited for both of our investigators because they are both on date for baptism. This means that they have accepted the invitation to be baptized and we are helping them to prepare to make this special covenant and ordinance with God.

Every Wednesday evening we do an activity called TRC. Members of the church and sometimes even nonmembers volunteer (these instances are very rare) to come and be taught by us. TRC is very similar to Visiting Teaching and Home Teaching. Last night, we had  the amazing opportunity to teach our first real investigators. They were a family that live next door to our Maestro, Hermano Martinez, who sat in on our lesson in case we needed help. They are planning on watching General Conference this weekend but they didn't understand how it all works or how we know that there is a prophet on the earth today. We taught them about the apostasy and our need for prophets on the earth today. We each bore our testimonies about prophets and the power of General Conference to answer our questions. We invited them to listen to conference with a question in mind and to record their thoughts and feelings as they listen. I extend this same invitation to all of you as well. I know that you questions will be answered because mine have been answered before and because these talks have been prepared by servants of the God and God is mindful of each of us. The words of those who speak this weekend at General Conference are the words of God (D&C 1:38). I know that Thomas S. Monson is a Prophet and he has been called in these latter days to lead and guide us.

On Tuesday, I had the opportunity to accompany the CCM choir on the piano for our Tuesday evening Devotional, it was an arrangement of the hymn, "Where Can I Turn For Peace?" I have loved singing with the CCM Choir and playing the piano here at the CCM.

I hope you all have a great week and enjoy General Conference!

Lots of love,
Hermana Yungfleisch

Transfer 1, week 3: Elder Cook's devotional

This week has been so great!

Elder Cook came to visit. He taught us three things to do to be great missionaries.
1. Be Ward or Branch builders (As my mom always says, "leave a place better than you found it", this is the message that Elder Cook left with us.)
2. You are the message (as you walk down the street those you pass should feel something)
3. Focus spiritual power on teaching and planning and seek always to have the spirit with you

These are all such great points that I need to work on and focus on while I am serving my mission.

I had the opportunity to play the piano for an Apostle of the Lord. The closing hymn of the night was "We Thank Thee, Oh God, For a Prophet." As I sat playing this great hymn, the spirit bore witness to me that Elder Cook is an Apostle of the Lord and that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God and that God loves all of his children and shows his love for us by calling prophets and apostles to lead and guide us. It was such a powerful experience for me.

This week, we had an amazing lesson with our "investigator" Ivan. We answered questions about baptism that he had from our previous lesson that were holding him back from committing to baptism and then he expressed that he is addicted to alcohol and smoking cigarets but that he wants to change. We immediatly flipped the lesson around to Word of Wisdom (D&C 89) and overcoming weaknesses (Ether 12:27). We invited him again to be baptized and he immediatly accepted. It was such an amazing experience and I learned so much about teaching by the Spirit. Ivan was actually one of my favorite teachers here at the CCM, but sadly his schedule was changed and he will no longer be our teacher. I'm going to miss him so much.

I can hardly believe that I only have 2 more weeks here in the CCM. Time seems to have flown. I wish I could stay here forever but I also can't wait to enter the mission field officially. I know that my Spanish is not very good just yet and I will struggle to understand people and speak to those I meet, but I have faith that the Lord will bless me to be able to share my testimony.

The B on the hill behind the CCM stand for Baptism. I love this view.

Fun fact about Mexico, they have Dora the Explorer, but she teaches the children English instead of Spnaish.

I hope you all have a great week!

Lot's of love,

Hermana Yungfleisch

Transfer 1, week 3: No blisters!

I'm pretty much recovered from my cold. It was pretty bad the first week I was here but nowhere near as bad as what mom had. I tried to play it down with my companions so that it wouldn't prevent us from learning and doing the work. They told me this week that they didn't even realize I had a cold. I used a lot of Kleenex and my saline bottle was a huge blessing. I also took a lot of Mucinex. After the blessing I received from my Elders the Monday we were here it all turned around. I still cough sometimes but nowhere near as badly.

I exercise every day. They have exercise bikes, ellipticals, medicine balls and weights. We play volleyball a lot. I'm learning how to shoot baskets for basketball. I play soccer sometimes with Elder Mitchell and Elder Wride but it's mostly just passing the ball around and trying to do cool tricks. I rode almost 8 miles earlier this week on one of the exercise bikes. I felt so good afterwards.

I have an amazing thing to tell you! I have seen a miracle. I HAVEN'T HAD ANY BLISTERS THE ENTIRE TIME I'VE BEEN HERE! Even wearing the shoes that gave me blisters the day before I left on my mission I know that it's all because of the blessing you gave me the day I left on my mission. You blessed me that my feet would be strong and they have. My feet have cramped up three times twice during gym time and once in my casa but that's the extent of my feet issues.

The food is pretty decent. I will say I have been craving some Cafe Rio and Taco bell. For lunch today I had Chicken in molé sauce and they serve hot corn tortillas with almost every meal so I have perfected the art of making lots of little street tacos. Andrew would probably love it. Before I came on my mission, I hated corn tortillas, now though I eat them every day. I will say that they're not very good at removing fat from meat and that is something that you would hate. I think the food at the Provo MTC might be better but I can't really complain. I have probably gained weight here but not very much. I eat a salad with almost every meal and I drink a lot of water. When I say a lot of water it means I try to drink at least 3 or 4 of my insulated water bottles a day. I had one day when I'm pretty sure I drank 8 or 9.

My Spanish is coming along pretty well. I still can't communicate everything that I want to but I know that that will come with time.

My daily self assessment is ok. I don't do it every day and I don't write in my journal every day because we don't get back to our apartment until 9:40 or 45 every night and then we sit and talk about how we can improve and how the day has gone and funny things that have happened and then we read for 20 minutes in Spanish as a companionship and then we get ready for bed and say companionship prayer and then maybe sneak in 5 minutes for journal writing. Nights are pretty crazy for us.

I'm trying to email you the some of my journal pages.

Susan played piano for Elder Cook's devotional at the Mexico City MTC this week

Susan played the piano for a devotional by Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles today in the CCM!  One of her two companions, Sister Asplund, conducted the music.

We'll have to wait until next Thursday, on her P-day, to find out how it went.

Go Susan!

Transfer 1, week 2: Hermana Yungfleisch gave her first Sacrament meeting talk in Spanish

¡Hola familia y amigos!

This week has been great!

I gave my first talk in Spanish on Sunday. It was pretty nerve wracking for all of us because none of us got a lot of time to prepare our talks and we didn't know which of us would actually be called on to speak. But I did it (and it didn't go as badly as I thought it would.) I should probably explain, every week, we are asked to prepare a five minute talk in Spanish on the chance that we are invited to speak in Church. Because my district was my zone this past week. We all expected to be called on to speak. Surprisingly only 4 of us were called on to speak. The rest of the time was filled by our Branch President, President Romero and one of his counselors. We all spoke on the Fall. It was a great Sunday.

This week, we also began teaching two new investigators, Ivan and Iliana. They're just our teachers posing as investigators to give us practice. My companions and I have grown so much in the few weeks we've been here. We have become so much better at planning for lessons. We now go into lessons\appointments with a very simple and brief outline of the things we feel would be the most beneficial to them and then we just focus on listening to our investigators as they ask us questions and answer the questions we ask them. We also make sure that we follow the promptings we receive from the spirit.

This past week I´ve had the oportunity to listen to 3 great devotionals. Tomorrow will be the greatest devotional yet. Elder Cook, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, is coming to visit and will be giving a special devotional here at the CCM. I have been asked to play the prelude, opening, and closing hymns at it. My companions and I will be singing in the CCM choir as well. It will be a great spiritual experience. I am so excited.

I know this church is true. I'm so grateful to be here at the CCM, preparing to serve a mission. I love the Book of Mormon. I know that it is another testament of Jesus Christ and that it is the word of God. I would encourage all to read it because I know that my life has blessed by it.

Con mucho amor,

Hermana Yungfleisch

Transfer 1, week 1: Hermana Yungfleisch's first week in the CCM!

Hola family and friends,

I have had the most amazing week ever!

First of all, I have been blessed to serve in a trio here in the CCM. Hermana Asplund and Hermana Burger are amazing and we've learned and grown so much together in the last eight days. The best part is that we will all be serving in the Texas Houston South Mission together.

Secondly, my District/Zone is the best! The seven of us have so much fun together. I know for a fact that we were placed together in our district by divine inspiration, to learn from and support and love each other. I'm pretty sure none of the other Districts here at the CCM love each other as much as we do. The other missionaries in our Zone left earlier this week to report to their missions, so the seven of us in our district are also our entire zone. Which means we'll all most likely be speaking in church this Sunday. In Español! Elder Baxter and Elder Wride will be serving in the Salt Lake West Mission and Elder Littlefield (or as we call him Elder Campopaqueño) and Elder Mitchell will be serving in missions here in Mexico.

Before leaving on my mission I was very worried about learning Español because I have always struggled to learn other languages. But I have been so blessed these past few days. Speaking in Español is coming along slowly but better than I thought it would. It can be frustrating at times to not be able to say exactly what I want but I know that one day I will be able to. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for me and that he will provide a way for me to accomplish this, just as Nephi declared in 1 Nephi 3:7 - "I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded for...the Lord giveth no commandments...,save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them." The Gift of Tongues will come as long as I believe in it, am worthy of it, seek it, work diligently, and love the people that I will serve. I have now taught four lessons in Español and I bore my testimony in Español this past Sunday in Sacrament meeting.

We went to the temple this morning. It was such a great experience. The México City Temple is gorgeous. We sang hymns on the way there which brought a special spirit to our time in the temple.

I love the CCM. The spirit is so amazing here and it is so beautiful. I wish that I could stay here forever.

I love you all!
As my District says, Amor y fist-bumps!

I am a Missionary!

I have been set apart as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  For the next 18 months I will go by the name Hermana Yungfleisch.

I am the first Sister Yungfleisch in the history of the world.  It's cool that I was set apart as the first Sister Yungfleisch exactly 28 years after my dad was set apart as the first Elder Yungfleisch on 1 Mar 1988.
